The Cooperative Development Foundation (CDF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable family of funds that advances community, economic and social development through cooperative enterprise. In 1944, CDF was initially formed by NCBA CLUSA. The then-called Freedom Fund of CLUSA helped provide war relief through the development of cooperatives and other self-help initiatives in Europe. Its first grant of $30,000 helped launch the Cooperative of American Remittances to Europe (CARE).

Cooperatives for a Better World is a not-for-profit organization that raises awareness of the benefits of the cooperative business model through educational and inspirational storytelling. Cooperatives for a Better World presents cooperatives as the preferred business model to advance sustainable economic and social development. Cooperatives for a Better World operates as a platform to explore the global cooperative story and connect the wide variety of sectors, sizes and countries in which cooperative enterprises exist and the contributions they make to the economies and communities in which they are tied. Established in 1895, the International Co-operative Alliance is the Apex organization for cooperatives worldwide. NCBA CLUSA represents U.S. cooperatives to this body. In 2000, the ICA backed NCBA CLUSA’s proposal for cooperatives to adopt the .coop Top Level Domain. The technical infrastructure for the .coop TLD was developed by the worker cooperative Poptel in the United Kingdom and became operational in 2002. In 2013, ICA launched a new visual identity for co-ops and a rebranding campaign. The global cooperative marque is designed to differentiate co-ops from other forms of business.
