NCBA's CLUSA International program’s provides an opportunity for American farmers and agribusiness professionals to assist farmers in Senegal and Zambia throug the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program. CLUSA International draws upon a pool of volunteers knowledgeable in agriculture, cooperative development, finance, insurance, energy, technology and housing.
Most volunteers are not international development professionals. They are farmers and agribusiness professionals that work in the fields in which they provide training. Many NCBA members participate in the program, but not all volunteers are NCBA members.
With no agenda other than a desire to help people, our volunteers provide training in cooperative development, soil fertility, integrated pest management, millett processing and warehousing, agricultural marketing and many other subjects. CLUSA International provides logistical and financial support for each volunteer’s mission while in the country. CLUSA staff travel with each volunteer to provide logistical and translation services.
