coop roadshow 500 copy 44484coop roadshow 500 copy 44484NCBA CLUSA member the Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City (CEANYC) is hosting the first of three co-op road shows this fall at the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board in lower Manhattan on September 20, 2016. Board, staff and members of cooperatives in the area are welcome to attend this free event and contribute to an exploration of solidarity economics. The announcement from CEANYC follows:

All around the city, the Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City is working within our cooperatives and organizations to build solidarity economy initiatives. This can be a powerful, transformative experience. It can also be deeply challenging and time-consuming work. Too often, we feel like we’re working alone, and that our challenges are unique to our organization, our sector, or our neighborhood.

At CEANYC, we believe that we have more in common than we think, and that coming together as a community for an evening to learn, share experiences and build relationships can be an important step towards building political and economic power. Towards that end, we are excited to invite you to our first Co-op Road Show. Seating is limited, so RSVP today!

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20 at the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board, located at 120 Wall Street, 20th Floor, New York, NY. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the workshop will begin at 7 p.m. Childcare and Spanish/English interpretation will be provided.

At the Co-op Road Show, we will gather with like-minded folks engaged in cooperative business across sectors, who are working locally to achieve similar goals. During a two hour workshop, facilitated by fellow New Yorkers with experiences in various sectors of the cooperative movement, you will have the opportunity to:

• Meet and network with other coop members in your area
• Dig into key concepts behind cooperatives and solidarity economics
• Identify and problem-solve around common issues and challenges
• Brainstorm and develop possibilities for working together
