Co-hosted by the University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives and the Twin Cities area food co-ops as local hosts, the 2017 Consumer Cooperative Management Association (CCMA) Conference will be held June 8 – 10 at the Radisson Blu in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This year’s conference theme, “Our North Star: Cooperate to Differentiate,” is inspired by Minnesota’s state motto, L’etoile du Nord, or “Star of the North.” Throughout history, the North Star has been a symbol of guidance, dependability and reassurance. Similarly, food cooperatives rely on the principles of cooperation for guidance in an ever-changing and often troubling world.

As food co-ops are challenged by increased market competition, shrinking margins and rising costs, leaders of the food co-op sector are challenged to demonstrate our commitment to the values that differentiate us. As cooperatives, we are committed to building vibrant, inclusive communities and a healthier planet.

The future of food cooperatives depends on differentiating ourselves. CCMA 2017 challenges you to follow Our North Star.

The University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives, the Twin Cities area food co-ops and the CCMA Planning Committee are developing a robust conference program that will allow attendees to share ideas, tools and inspiration to strengthen their food cooperatives.

Registration opens at the end of January. In the meantime, take a look at the CCMA 2017 conference website for information on venue and lodging, sponsors and more.
