The National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA) is excited to announce new Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer opportunities in Madagascar focused on cooperative development and education.

We are looking for cooperative developers or co-op leaders with a passion for agriculture to meet three-week, all expenses paid, training needs for start-up co-ops in rural Madagascar. While not required, any knowledge of or experience in vanilla production is a plus.

NCBA CLUSA is looking for volunteers to help smallholder vanilla farmer groups organize themselves into cooperatives and register with the local government. Volunteers will also provide trainings in management, leadership, governance, strategic and financial planning so that the co-ops are able to better serve their farmer members and collectively address the challenges they face with vanilla production.

Do it to help cooperators in Madagascar! These three-week flexible date assignments will be conducted with vanilla farmers who live in remote villages, so potential volunteers must be nature enthusiasts willing and able to hike six hours to the villages at the beginning of the trip and out again.

NCBA CLUSA has immediate volunteer openings starting next month through July 2017.

These volunteer opportunities are part of the Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA) Farmer-to-Farmer Special Programs Support Project, which covers the cost of volunteer flights, ground transportation, lodging and provides a meal stipend and on-the-ground support and translation.
