As the national apex organization representing cooperatives across all sectors, NCBA strives to advancing the cooperative business model whenever opportunity knocks. Therefore, we always look for opportunities in legislation and administrative policy.
For example, in the Farm Bill of 2008, we secured a change to a USDA guaranteed loan program to include loans for investing in cooperatives - or in funds that invest in cooperatives. We have also worked to make sure health care reform legislation includes opportunities for cooperatives to play a role in addressing the crisis by providing insurance and other benefits for consumers.
