National Cooperative Business Association

A Global Network of Diverse, Independent Retailers

CCA Global Offers a One–of–a–Kind Business Model

The impact of CCA Global’s business structure and strategies is considerable. During the economic downturn of the past few years, for example, the housing industry — which affects the majority of CCA Global’s membership — shrunk by 40 percent. CCA Global member stores were forced to operate with smaller revenues and staffs, and with great uncertainty. However, while the flooring industry saw a 25 percent loss in stores during the economic downturn, the CCA Global network only lost 2 percent.

This success was due in part to members’ collective ability to control wholesale costs and protect profit margins — and also due to the marketing tools and strategic guidance they received from CCA Global. An additional benefit to members is that twice a year, the cooperative has distributes rebates that collectively add up to as much as $40 million.

Each of CCA Global’s 2,700 locations impacts its local community in a unique way. The average CCA location employs approximately 15 people. CCA Global locations are encouraged to give back to the communities that support them, from taking on community leadership roles to participating in local charities.

Privately held by approximately 750 shareholders, CCA Global plans to continue to expand by engaging new business owners, while also looking at other retail or service industries that have the potential for growth and higher levels of profitability. Ideal industries are those that are fragmented with numerous small, independent specialty stores.

CCA Global was founded with a bold, but fairly specific, vision: to help independent flooring retailers operate profitably in an increasingly competitive marketplace. That industry focus still defines the largest unit of this pioneering enterprise, but the original retail network has been joined by 13 other affiliate companies involved in the flooring industry, as well as lighting and biking, with a total of 2,700 retail locations around the world. The organization helps its members succeed by leveraging their collective buying power to get better wholesale prices, and by offering more affordable solutions for marketing, insurance and other business necessities.
