Cooperative Development Foundation

Cooperative Development Foundation

The Cooperative Development Foundation (CDF) is a 501(c)(3) charitable family of funds that advances community, economic and social development through cooperative enterprise. In 1944, CDF was initially formed by NCBA CLUSA. The then-called Freedom Fund of CLUSA helped provide war relief through the development of cooperatives and other self-help initiatives in Europe. Its first grant of $30,000 helped launch the Cooperative of American Remittances to Europe (CARE).
